Metadata: The Secret Sauce for Full Observability

People tend to think of observability through the lens of the core telemetry signals, namely logs, metrics and traces. But they tend to overlook the importance of metadata, which is crucial for full observability.

Enter Metadata, the “data about data” that gives us the context we need about our application and infrastructure when we monitor systems and investigate incidents. In this talk Dotan will share the importance of metadata for true observability. He will also show how to incorporate metadata with logs, metrics, traces or any other telemetry signal to turn this raw data into meaningful events and to enable effective correlation between the signals.

Dotan will show how to put it to practice in Kubernetes environments, and using popular open source stack such as Prometheus, Jaeger and OpenTelemetry. Join us to learn how to use the secret sauce called Metadata to boost your observability.
